iPad 2 & iPhone 4S Jailbreak Released!

Earlier today the chronic dev-team released Absinthe, a simple one click iPhone 4S Jailbreak application. Currently Absinthe is only available for MAC OS X and not Windows, however the windows release should come very shortly. This jailbreak is by far one of the easiest to perform, literally you just launch Absinthe, plug-in your iPhone 4S or iPad 2, click jailbreak and absinthe takes care of the rest. You don't even need to put your device into DFU recovery mode, the whole process takes a few minutes.

Untethered iOS 5 Jailbreak Released!

The iPhone Dev-Team has done it once again with their new release of redsn0w. Unfortunately this jailbreak does NOT support Apple's A5 devices, the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. It does however support the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4 CDMA, iPad 1, iPod touch 3G, and iPod touch 4G running iOS version 5.01. If you've been thinking about moving to iOS 5 now would be the time, once Apple releases 5.1 you will have a short window to upgrade to the 5.01 version and have an untethered jailbreak.

iPhone OS 4.2 Released Jailbreakers

Earlier today Apple released iPhone OS 4.2 which includes many new features and enhancements for your iPhone. If you wish to keep your untethered jailbreak, stay away from this update until further notice, DO NOT UPDATE! If you're on an earlier firmware use TinyUmbrella to backup your SHSH blobs now. The current jailbreaking tools will only provide you with a tethered jailbreak! Developers are currently working on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2. If you rely on an Unlock you should stay away from this update until appropriate tools are released, on Thanksgiving hopefully. If you do update and jailbreak iPhone OS 4.2 now you will have to restore when the official jailbreak is released for it to be untethered. I'm Highly recommending you stay away from this for now. Check back for more updates!

Backup Your iPhone SHSH – TinyUmbrella

Having backups of your SHSH will also allow you to downgrade to older firmware versions if you have the SHSH for it even if you've updated your iPhone's firmware. The reason the SHSH is needed is because on an iPhone 3GS or higher, Apple's server must sign the firmware being installed. After a new firmware version is released Apple's server will stop signing older firmware, rendering it unusable. With your SHSH blobs you'll be able to generate the signature needed to use an older firmware.

UPDATE - having your SHSH keys for iOS 4.1 will play a huge role in an Untethered jailbreak for iPhone OS4.2 and beyond. Don't get stuck without an untethered jailbreak! BACK UP YOUR SSH NOW! iPhone OS 4.2 will be released any day now. If you update without doing this you may end up with a tethered jailbreak! Using TinyUmbrella Doesn't require a jailbreak.

Flash Video on iPhone with Skyfire App

Finally this amazing web browser comes to the iPhone. This has always been one my favorite apps since winmo beta days. Skyfire renders flash video on their remote server and streams it to your iPhone. Playback is fluid, audio is perfect and video is decent quality! Skyfire also contains several other features to enhance your browsing experience.

It's no wonder this iPhone app made the top of the appstore in 5 hours. The developers actually pulled the app for being too successful. Their servers got overloaded and needed to work on increasing capacity to handle the enormous amount of iPhone users. All is good now and I have had no problems playing flash movies on my iPhone!
