I have bought this app and it definitely works, except I have not managed to successfully connect my laptop #wirelessly# as of yet. My main BIG problem is getting an answer to this question – If i use this app to tether my laptop to my iphone to use the data connection, will vodafone bill me the extra £5 still? Reason I ask is that when you activate tethering in the app the native tethering is also activated (in settings). Does ANYONE know the true and complete answer to this question?
vodafone will not bill you extra as long as you have an iphone data plan. You don’t need the additional tether plan nor will you have to pay extra for tethering. The true and complete answer is tethering has to be enabled through carrier settings downloaded through itunes if your carrier has tethering enabled. These carrier settings tell your phone to use a different APN when natively tethering, however MyWi uses your iphone data APN and not your carriers tethering APN. Basically your carrier has no idea you’re even tethering your iphone if you’re using MyWi
There is an APN changer app available on cydia now which does allow you to tinker with your APN settings.
Now, does this mean I can watch iPlayer without Wifi on my iPhone? If not, on my laptop via tethering? Don’t want to buy 13G as well!
